Vaseline-Cheap and it works very well from the first time that you use it-during the day massage into the skin incl cracked heels but at night put on more and wear thin socks. Cracked, dry skin on heels and sides of soles of feet can also be a sure sign of a type of athletes foot so if lotions,Vaseline do not work then use product made forr just that-look in the foot section-will say its fo that on the product package.

Extra light virgin olive oil....IS OK for use on skin.... You can use it as a bath oil and body oil. Exfoliate with a natural bristle body brush and smooth on the oil, rinse off excess. You can also use on dry hair, just shampoo out and don't condition. This is a natural moisturizer! No added chemicals or perfumes etc. I love it. About $9 for a 28 ounce bottle.

Cracked heels can be removed with a good pedicure and cocoa butter cream on them at night.

BTW cracked heels often come from mistreated feet and ill fitted shoes. AVON makes an excellent cracked heel relief cream that moisturizes and stops the pain. It's great on burns also.

Petroleum jelly is petroleum based and is not good for your skin. It can actually dry it out more. Gentle liquid soaps are better than bar soaps and glycerine soap is best for bar soap.

Olive oil is a natural moisturizer. Smooth a few drops on a cotton ball over the skin 2-3 times a day. You'll see results after about 3 days.

I swear by Nivea or Vaseline Intensive Care. They're really, really cheap and totally moisturise your skin. I'm not particularly into skin and beauty products, but as long as my skin feels nourished I'm a happy bunny. They're effective straight away. Not so sure what you'd use for cracked heels. You probably need a session with a reputable chiropodist

Use Bag Balm, sold at most major drugstores. It comes in a square tin and looks like vaseline. I get cracked heels in the winter, so I will rub it on my feet and wear thick socks until it absorbs in. It is minimal in cost, readily available, and has fantastic results when used for a week or more. The only down-side to the product is it can be greasy when you apply it to a larger area (that's why I wear socks or cover it with a gauze-like patch). Good luck! :)

For skin: Vaseline, baby oil, olive oil, or use a Suave brand lotion.

If you are going mainly for feet, you need to soak them in warm soapy water, use a foot shaver or use a pumice stone and work off the dead skin, then use a soap that has an expoliant in it (St. Ives has some for around a dollar), then use vaseline or lotion.

If hands, vaseline and wear gloves or socks at night; if your face, you really don't need much lotion at all - you can even use a little bit of vaseline but wipe off excess. If you go for a lotion, get a small tube of the more expensive brand for your face or ask your cosmetic clerk.

Avon's Skin So Soft line.
Also check out Avon's Cracked Heel Relief Cream.

I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to Avon, but I really use all the products I talk about.

I work in a cold, dry environment and use a cream called E45 manufactured by Crookes Healthcare when my hands become dry, sore and chapped (but can be used anywhere on your body).

It is non-greasy and unperfumed and only costs £1.25 for a 50g tube. Two or three applications over a day really sorts me out.
