i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

He was a very good entertainer with a big personality but to be honest, I am getting a bit weary of hearing (or reading) about him. I think this thing has been WAY OVERBLOWN. It is very sad he died but everyone will at some point and he was just one person. In Chicago over the weekend, a family died in a terrible fire (they had no electricity in their apartment so they were using candles; dumb yes, but these were young children who perished). Others around the globe died too so Irwin is not the only one. Other news is important like the war in Iraq and all the rest. I really think we have talked this one into the ground and I think it's time to move on now. The world will keep revolving. Peace to Irwin's family. And really, when people compare his death to that of JFK, well, there is NO comparison! It is not the same thing at all, and tot hose who were not alive in 1963, you could not POSSIBLY imagiine what that was like. The scale of it was enormous! This is simply NOT the same thing.

Like some Aussie headlines said, his death is to kids what JFK's and Princess Diana's were to adults. Yeah, who would have thought it would be anything other than a croc or snake? I can hardly believe it. This guy had even ME liking reptiles and such...still from a distance, but at least we could be in the same room or area without me running screaming. He was a kid in a grown-up body, with an enthusiasm for conservation that I can only pray keeps spreading. His wife and daughter will do well with carrying on his dream, but his son barely knew him. I hope he has his daddy's genes for helping the earth and helping his family keep the fire alive in people to save wildlife...God bless you Croc man. You're back with your mum now.

I liked watching the guy. Yea, he took alot of risks that I thought were sometimes strange, but he seemed to know what he was doing. He truly seemed to love animals of every kind and he showed respect for them, which is what I liked about him. I think he knew that a freak accident could happen to him at any time. I feel very sad for his children, though. His wife knew that this could happen at some time, too, I think.

Well, it is sad, but he was in a high risk business. The more risks you take, one has to turn out bad sometime.
