A couple of months ago, I noticed a strange lump on my hand.It sits an inch from my wrist, and it is between my pointer and middle fingers. I believe it appeared overnight. It feels as hard as bone; however, I am certain that isn't. I have no pain associated with it. Anyone have educated guesses? P.S. I will visit the doctor soon.

i'll bet it's a ganglion cyst. these appear, often from overuse of the extremity (like lots lf typing). definitely go get it checked out anyway. but treatment ranges from do nothing if it doesn't hurt, steroid injection, surgery, or hitting it with a thick book (seriously) good luck

In response to the first person who answered your question, you cannot think it may not be serious, or you will never get it checked out. I cannot believe she wrote it is not serious. Whatever you have may not be what she had. It is something I would not mess around with. I bet 100 percent of the people who ask question in the health care subject, are just looking for some familiarity with what they are dealing with, which is fine, but remember the most important thing to do, go to the doctor!. Before you get more bad advice...!!!

It does sound like a ganglion cyst, they can be painful, and they can disappear and reappear. See a good surgeon

could be a calcium deposit to a pinched nerve, broken joint..? sometimes that has no apparent pain... until way later.

fluid buildup..

i had bumps like that... mine came from real nasty hypertension.

see the doc of course, maybe he'll lance it or send you to someone who will check it out.

I had the same thing, can't remember what the heck the doctor called it. It isn't serious though.
