One is cultural, the other is distasteful. With the Censoring companies like the FCC, it's about political correctness.

Well, one was shown during the half time show of the Super Bowl. Janet Jackson had clothing on her body and that idiot Justin Timberfake ripped her clothes off. It's funny how we all forget that he actually flashed the world by taking her clothes off.

In Africa, I think that it's going to be difficult to make everyone in an African tribe wear tops when the cameras come through interrupting their lives. Plus, these people have been living this way for centuries.

One is cultural while the other commercial. Guess which one is which.

The thing happened at the time of the president election...

If this whole thing happened a couple months after than the citizens of US... No the media in the US would have take it differently and did not make a big deal out of it...

MTV is still not completely supporting Miss Jackson right now... While Justin Timberlake gets full promotion!!!

How LAME is that???

But the real answer to your question...: There's NO difference!!!
A breast is a breast...

The difference is one is on cable and the other is on primetime television. The difference is one is a custom and the other is an act of public lewdness in a community that does not allow it. NOt to mention Janet Jackson had a man expose her breast in a sexually descriptive act.

Usually, when NG shows breasts, it is really primitive people whose culture has the women running around topless. Janet J. does not run around topless. Hers was a slimy publicity stunt.

When I was a kid, we kids in the 50's, would sneak in the high school library and look at topless African tribal women. We were curious, but frankly, they really never had an attractive woman nor attractive breast.

National Geographic wasn't aired during the half time of the Super Bowl when I had My grandson on my lap and was not expecting it.
if I wanted to watch national Geographic I would do it when my grandchildren aren't here.
Every year my husband and I throw a big Super Bowl Party and invite all our children, their spouses and the grand kids. We do not expect to see "wardrobe malfunctions" with the kiddies in the room.

It should be okay if janet appears on Nat Geo in all her 'bare glory' jumping zulu perhaps with Kunta Kinte, but not on live concert wriggling and sizing up Justin Timberlake.

Trying to present 'Mating Season' on stage.

National Geographic Titties

Because parents understand some factual and cultural nudity is going to potentially be involved in a national geographic program but not while they are watching a halftime program for football.
They are not in the same context and as a parent I am aware of what my child is exposed too. a COSTUME malfunction versus a CULTURAL costume.

Oh come on! I can go to a beach and see bare breasts, or open up a newspaper.
It is just we don't need to see it for purely promo purposes
Do you believe in 'show a tit let's get famous'?
