This was a very sad thing that happened and I would first like to send my sympathy to his wife and children and the rest of his family. I have always been taught that if you play with fire that it will some day burn you. He knew that his job was dangerous and knew that people were thrill seekers and were mesmerized with his crazy antics. I was appalled the first time I saw his show because he was putting his own well being at risk just to entertain the masses. He also did something else, he educated people about animals. I would have never known some of the species that he showed. I learned so much from him and other animal activists and reservists. I don't think anyone betrayed him. He trusted his crew with his life just like they did with theirs. It was an accident. No one knew that the sting-ray was going to stab him but they did know the risks. The poison traveled so quickly and in such a bad spot that I am sure they did everything that they could to help him but couldn't. It is just so sad.

How the hell can it be a case of betrayal? It was an accident and now every one wants to kill the poor little stingray. Whats that about? The guy knew the risks, so why is the stingray going to die for doing what nature intended it to do?

Yeah, right! The stingray was a paid assassin, hired by the Australian government to kill Steve because the government was tired of his constantly bothering them on conservation issues. GET REAL!!! This was a terrible accident that probably couldn't happen again in a million years.

I think that the Stingray betrayed Steve. Steve loved animals. He didnt even do anything to that Stingray. But it just killed him mercilessly!!!!! Oh, I feel so sick!!! I will miss him.

Oh yes, I think he had that stingray kill him deliberately just to aggravate everyone.
No....get real, I don't think he planned it. Betrayal would have to be a conscious effort.
