Oregon is the home/birthplace of Harold Reynolds, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Gus van Sant, Chuck Palahniuk (The guy that rote Fight Club), Doink the Clown, Matt Groening (In fact some of the characters are named after streets in Portland like Terwilliger, Flanders, Quimby and Lovejoy.), AC Green, Joey Harrington, Jon Heder, Phil Knight (CEO of NIKE which is headquartered in Beaverton Oregon), Linus Pauling, River Phoenix, Terri Irwin, and Tonya Harding, who lived a couple miles from my house.
Dark Horse comics (Buffy, AVP) is also headquartered a couple miles from my house.
Chad Johnson, Gary Payton, Ahmad Rashad, Dan Fouts, and Monica Lewinsky went to college in Oregon.
Kindergarten Cop, Point Break, One Flew over the Cuckoos nest, Short Circuit, The Free Willy franchise, The Ring 2, Bandits, and Goonies were all filmed in Oregon.

fact numbr one--they are HUGE on chldren safety--do not swat your child in public-don't even threaten your kid loud enough for anyone to hear. Fact number two--it is flippin cold there-anytime of the year and fact number three-it rains so much that Noah is buliding a second arc there. Have fun=plus side--no sales tax
