Its the Sphinx riddle-What walks on four legs in the morning, two legs in the afternoon and three legs at night. Answer: A man. He crawls on all fours as a baby, he walks upright and normal as an adult, and he walks with a cane as an old man.

actually, i believe it is "starts off on" not "with". and the answer is man--crawling, walking, and with a cane.
