I am the same way.If i watch them the images stay in my mind forever and they come haunting me when I'm alone...When i was a little girl that's all i would watch and i think I traumatized myself.

Yes it sucks, its sad to miss out on some great horror movies, nothing feels better than being scared and knowing your safe. You dont have to watch gore, most great horrors like The Exorcist, The Omen Triology, White Noise, Butterfly Effect, even Texas Chainsaw does not go to far with blood and gore. You dont know what your missing, you should rent some of these , or even watch a episode of Hauntings on Discovery channel alone in the dark and experience the great feeling that come with being scared and having control, nothing to it.

If you don't want to waste the ticket money, see if this helps:
1. This is only a movie.
2. What makeup are they using?
3. How did they do that effect?
4. How does the actor feel under all that ooze or scars or flesh?
5. Pretend you are a film critic and study the direction.
Sure, this will kill your enjoyment in one way, but will give you another way to enjoy movies...

No, you DON'T suck. If not for women like you, men would have one less pleasure in dating. Scaring your date with your hand around her eyes while watching a scary movie is THE BEST! *lol*

NO.I can not stand scary movies they scare the s h i t out of me.
There is no real need to watch them, if you want to get exhilarated go to six flags or something. If there are people that tell you that your stupid cause you don't want to go ignore them.
It's just like food, somethings you won't eat, and then with some you will.

I can't either. A friend of mine told me to read the book instead. I told her that is impossible, my imagination goes on overload and I have a hard time to read the book with my eyes closed. So, join the club.

There is nothing wrong with you.
Some can, some can't.
Tell you what, you just have to keep reminding yourself that you are watching a movie. It is not real. You will be OK.
