My god some of the people trying to anwser will kill this person.
You need to taper benzo's for weeks to months if you stop taking a benzo you can go into a seizure. You need to work with a doctor on tapering this and you may ask to be switched to a diffrent benzo that has a longer half-life to taper with.

Angel, I like Eugene's answer which is to work out the issues with your doc!!!.... Auricular acupuncture might help, but make sure the acupuncturist is state-licensed..... Valerian tea smells, like rank gym socks :(

god, i hope so, 'cause i'm gonna need 'em. valerian might help - the benzodiazepines (xanax among them) are derived from it - but it's rather like taking more, much weaker, xanax. you should probably check into a detox center... i don't know if they cost money.

No, there are no non prescription drugs to ease the withdrawal symptoms. You have to ween yourself off the drug. You cannot quit cold turkey. I believe I have answered this same question before.
