Some women really hate feminists. But this is only because they have a wrong idea about feminism and feminists. Thanks to the media, sensationalism and ignorance of the people who impose themselves as authorities, most people identify feminism with female-chauvinism, man-hating, and lesbians. But they are getting those information from completely wrong sources. Feminism has NOTHING to do with female-chauvinism and man-hating. It is about equal opportunities, equal payment, against domestic violence and many other social injustices that are still existing. Women who hate feminists today, probably are forgetting that they have their right to vote and to be elected, to work and education thanks to feminists' struggle during the history. Concerning lesbians, this is one complex problem. The most of feminists are not lesbians and the most of lesbians are not feminists. However, some problems of both are interfering to some extent. The problem of lesbians' rights are a part of the general problem of homosexuals' rights but there are certain problems specific exclusively for women homosexuals. There are some discussions about the question whether the Queer Studies should be included in WS or not...
However, the best way to sell the newspapers and to raise TV ratings is sensationalism and vilifying. That's why some politicians, journalists... are trying to save their positions and misuse the fact that a majority of people are relying on media as the only source of information and they create a very bad image of feminism and any other movement that supports the rights of marginalized groups.

Don't you honestly think "hate" is a bit strong? How about dislike, or disagree with, instead? "Hate" is pretty evil actually, it does nothing good for you. And what is it about feminists you disagree with? Don't you think women should get the same pay and the same opportunities in work as men? I do, and I am a guy. I don't think women should ever be treated as a guy's property to rough up and order around, either. It might be that you have been listening to some goofy right wingers who try to say what feminism is about when they don't have a clue. Anyway, hate is not good.

Sure, and while you're hating them, why don't you plan a trip to a place feminism never existed, like Saudi Arabia. There, the feminist-haters keep women in head to toe veils, they are not allowed to drive, they are not allowed to be unaccompanied by a male anywhere in public, they are kept cloistered in their schools and homes, and their word counts for one-half of a man's in a court of law. In some areas of Saudi, as well as other feminist-hating regions, young girls are castrated -- their clitorisis cut out, their labias cut off, their vaginal openings sewn shut -- because this will keep them from having sexual feelings -- it will keep them "pure."
But hey, if you don't want to travel, just give up all the rights feminism has won for you, and you can hate them while you're earning 1/3 of a man's wages for doing the same work.

'It's "ok" to hate feminists if you are a woman.' Is that what you wish to hear::validation for your hatred of feminists?
Realize this hatred of feminists means you hate stay at home mothers, women of colour, women of different nationalities, women of varying economic statuses, women of different sexual orientations, women of varying education backgrounds, women of every age group and women of varying religions.
This hating of feminists results in you being racist, classist, elitist, heterosexist and misogynist. Being ignorant is nothing to be proud of and yet you show your ignorance like it's a prize.
You don't deserve a pat on the back for being narrow/closeminded and not looking at all aspects of women's experience.
What you do deserve is a number to a therapist or counsellor to help you with these self-loathing and projection issues.

The feminists have served a purpose in bringing awareness to the world and no I do not hate them. Hate is a pretty harsh word and only results in more hatred. Hate is really about anger and fear. So you need to ask yourself where this fear stems from. Womanhood today is tentative and unsure, defined more about what it isn't rather than what it is. For some women this isn't a problem and they have rose above societies projections and misunderstandings. For others womanhood is in mass pain of an unspoken death. The dirt around us is moving making room for tiny sprouts. New things lie in store for the earth and one of those things is women giving birth to their own redemption. We are born with a mystical purpose, however, after thousands of years of living in a patriarchial society we are just now reclaming our thrones.

Some of the biggest contributors to any inequalities, injustices, and lack of respect or being valued that women have gone through have been other women - not always men.
Sure. Go ahead and hate feminists for what "horrible things" they do - and then count yourself among those "other women".

Yes, it's OK.
Feminism isn't about equality anymore. It might have been in the past, and probably is still, albiet rarely.
Feminists do more damage to how women are viewed and treated than any other group.

lol lol lol I know I do!!
I hate how people associate woman's rights with feminism. Equal rights is Egalitarian. Feminism has become synonymous with female-chauvinism, man-hating, and lesbians. I'm all for equal pay. I'm all for the right to vote, but I love my brothers, I don't blame my failures on men, and I don't think the world owes me everything. Also, I don't claim to hate stereotyping, and yet stereotype men as feminists are constantly doing.
