Is something bothering you? Do you keep a sleep schedule? Keep a routine of to bed at a set time and up at a set time? Also need to know how much sleep you need , some people function fine with only five hours , most need eight to ten. Also get some exercise early but have a wind down time at night and a ritual before sleep is a good way to start.

There are several possibilities or a combination.
Insomnia is just a term thrown out to cover just about anything. You want to get to the root cause.
Do you go several days with little sleep and then kind of shut down?
Sleep apnea is very possible; do you wake up a lot during the night? Do you sweat? Has anyone told you that you snore?
What about your diet? Do you get regular exercise? caffeine after 3 pm?
Do you eat a lot of protein in the evening? If so, cut back and eat breads and fruits.
Are you depressed or worried?
Do you have thoughts racing through your mind?
Do you watch television or stay on the computer till wee hours of the night? Those kinds of stimulation make it difficult for your brain to settle. Reading is much better to try and get to sleep.
There are some natural remedies you might try like hot herbal tea or some herbal supplements.
Don't rule out consulting a good doctor.
Good luck

That's insomnia. A lot of people can't sleep when there's a full moon for some reason. You can take something for that.

Do you have a lot on your mind? Are you happy with where you are in your life right now. Have you suffered from a traumatic experience? Is your bed uncomfortable?
