Im trying to get back into baseball with some of my friends. Before I could hit the ball pretty far, then in the present I can't hit the ball that much at all. Is this due to the fact I wear glasses now? Should I wear them in game? (Intramurals). If not is there another reason I lost contact, possibly my swing? Confidence at the plate? Thanks

Make sure you're just keeping your eye on the ball for as long as possible. Odds are something happened to your mechanics and confidence rather than your vision, or hand-eye coordination because that stays with you. I've seen players use glasses and do fine so I dont think thats it. I suggest taking some practice swings and going to batspeed.com to see what you are doing wrong. Good luck, hope you get your swing back.

First, determine whether your eyesight is the issue. Can you hit a static ball off of a tee(solid contact), with or without glasses? Can you toss a ball up with one hand and make solid contact? Again with or without glasses?

If you can establish the basic hand-eye coordination to hit the ball, with or without glasses, then the only other variable is the moving ball. Which you can practice at a batting cage.

BTW, the teeball and 'toss and swat', can easily be practiced on your own without any one else. All you need is a bat, ball, and a field.

Work out so you have upper body strength and leg strength to help with the follow through on your swing.
Sometimes with fastballs, all you need is contact, you don't even need to hit it with all your might.
Keep your eye on the ball and you'll knock the crap out of it! One good hit and you'll feel confident again, I promise.
As for your glasses, try getting contacts if only for peace of mind during your at-bats. The last thing you want to worry about is them falling off during your homerun jog! : ) Good Luck!

Maybe your skills have just deteriorated and you aren't as good as you thought you were. Glasses will only improve you ability to hit cause they help you see!

Try contact lenses.
