It depends on where you want to teach. If you want to teach in NC, I've included a link to our state's website regarding licensure. You can also apply online from this page. That's how I got my first job as a teacher 3 years ago!

In most states, if they are like Ohio where I live, you are going to find it very difficult to find a job, especially without a Teacher Degree. I have a BS in Early Childhood Education, had to sub a year before I found a job, and that was after endless interviews. The teaching job market right now, is so scarce and there are so many applicants, schools are going to choose teachers that are highly qualified (Teaching degree for sure! and some experience if they have it.)
You may get some substitute jobs, but they won't be full-time most likely. If you want to be a teacher, you are probably going to have to get a teaching degree. Where I live, you also have to get your Masters in Education, Curriculum, or Educational Administration within 5 years. I am working on that now. They are also wanting Reading Endorsements on certificates because teaching of reading is so vital.
Good luck in your job hunt. It took me two years, and I still know "teachers" I graduated from college with 2 1/2 years ago who are still looking.

If you want to teach Elem. or HS I suggest private schools. With a Masters Degree you might be able to get a job at a community college or business school.

Did you contact the Supertindent of Schools, in the city where you want to teach? He or she should be able to give you guidance on this issue.
Best of luck.
