Yep, from everything I know about those things, you can get a false negative, but they cannot produce a false positive. If that thing says that your pregnant, then you usually are.

Depending on how fast the hormone levels change, then it could pick something up pretty quick.

A cheap urine test can start to show you're pregnant anywhere from a week before your period (that is an early and rare extreme) to the date of your missed period (most common). If you have an "average" cycle length of 28 days, then the day you miss your period you have been pregnant for 2wks, but you are 4wks pregnant because they count two weeks prior to conception when dating pregnancies.

It is a confusing system, but if you got a positive, you're pregnant. False positives on HPT's (home pregnancy tests) are pretty much non-existent now.

If you find the length of your average cycle (if you're regular) and the date of your last period, that would be the best way to calculate how long you've been pregnant, but it doesn't always work for everyone due to the discrepancy in cycle lengths and consistencies and the fact that Dr.'s count those extra two weeks when not all women have two entire weeks from the 1st day of their period until ovulation or conception.

Good luck!

Missing your period isnt really a sign of preganacy. Many women continue to have their period for the first few months of pregnancy. Even though you might have used a cheap pregnancy test if the accuracy of the test is at least 99% then it will be. I had a friend that bought a cheap test and she didnt believe the test and waited a few weeks. Well she hadn't missed any periods and started getting really sick. One day I took her to the hospital and they confirmed what the tests had prevoiusly said she was pregnant. The doctors also told her that she was almost into her second trimester and would need prenatal meds and fast.

Yes, because 2 weeks after ovulating you would be missing your period. A lot of women get + results on the first day they miss their period.

most of the test kits are 99% accurate, so i think even cheap ones would be accurate too
