make sure to wash them in cold water, and hang them dry. I hang them on the hanger in the laundary room, and usually they dry overnight.

If you buy 100% cotton shirts, then they will definately shrink in the dryer and the only way to dry them is to hang dry to avoid shrinking, or you can put them in the dryer on "less dry" where the dryer heat is very low. Otherwise, buy shirts that are not 100% cotton and they will not shrink in the dryer.

Wash your shirts in cold water and a cold water rinse also. Hang them on a hanger instead of drying them in the dryer. You could also put them on the table{large} and put down a sheet or large towel and place your shirts on it and spread them out flat and even and this would even be better then a hanger as hangers makes marks above the sleeve like horns.
