it means you have a responsibility to stand up and demand that George W Bush be impeached and prosecuted for the law he has broken. It is a mutual agreement between the citizens and the government, the citizen pledges allegiance to the government in return for the governments protection, the government protects the citizenry in return for their allegiance. W and the federal government have not been protecting us from the invaders to the south while they have fought a war of aggression against a nation on the other side of the world that did not pose an immediate threat.
Don't say we are fighting terrorism, that is an ideal not a nation and an ideal can not be defeated. All we have done is create more hatred towards the US.

In US, it actually does not mean much, as so many rights are given to non-citizens. But even in the US, you have to be a citizen to vote, work for any branch of government, and have rights that can not be revoked.

The only way the citizenship can be revoked is if you take an oath for another country, lie on citizenship applications, or you request it as such.

If you are resident alien (ie. permanent resident), privileges can be revoked at the request of the government, and you have no rights to contest it.

In most other countries, citizenship is required for almost all kinds of benefits.
