The wnba is starting to become more like the mens league, but verrrryyy slowly. With more women weight training and conditioning, building their bodies and such, theyre becoming stronger and able to jump higher, post stronger, drive harder, and play more aggresive defense with the 4 and 5 spots. The main difference that's talked about now between the men and women is that the women play more of the fundamental style of play, aka- taking the shot only when open and not forcing the bad shot that male players, like bryant, wade, lebron, whoever, like to take so much. The women tend to go to the post like men do, but they don't go up strong against the defender, because they can't finish with the force a male center would. Women tend to fade away from the basket when down in the post. The guards in the wnba swat, and reach for the ball, and attempt to intercept passes alot more, but don't have a high success rating here because of their smaller stature. Things are not done as "spectacularly" in the wnba because of the physical inabilities of the women, but slowly, the league is starting to become flashier, and more fun to watch. Still, the mens league may be a bit too hard for them to catch, because of the little repsect female ballplayers seem to get.

Maybe the fact that it's men playing that make it a big draw for men. A lot of homosexual men occupay their time with sports, just for this very reason.
There might not even be another reason, besides the physical difference, in men and women. Triple-A baseball (that's the highest level of the minor leagues) is good entertainment. If I really wanted to watch a baseball game, I'd settle for a triple-A game on TV, but there's Major League Baseball. I'm going to watch Major League Baseball, over minor leagues, anyday. It's not just dunking, it's every facet of the game, that's faster, and stronger, etc. Passes get thrown faster. Shots are made from further away. The players are taller... the thing that makes big-time sports so great, is that the players are like superheros. They have superpowers. Some people might think, "well, they're all competing against each other, so it evens itself out" but it doesn't!

These answers hit it pretty well.
The mens' game is much, much faster, the passes (on those rare moments when they DO occur) are faster and sharper in the men's game (they have to be, as the defenders are much qicker as well).
Women can actually sometimes be better free throw shooters overall, because FT shooting requires a soft shooting touch. But I really don't know what the percentages are in the WNBA as opposed to the NBA... it just seems like a lot of NBA players can't shoot Free Throws...
But because of being physically stronger, men have more range on their shots than women do. Long distance shooting requires leg strength as well, and men are superior to women in that area.
But really, the big differences is really speed, on both ends of the floor.
Women do tend to play more of a team game, with more passing and setting up of shots, while men tend more to create their own shots.
On a side note, the ball used in WNBA play is smaller, to compensate for the smaller hand size of women players as opposed to NBA players. It gives them more of a proportionate feel of the ball.

Women seem to play a little slower than men. I'm a women so I'm not being rude. I have noticed they pass the ball a lot more too. I feel bad for them though because the NBA draws so much more attention than the WNBA which means the men get paid a whole lot more.

Women rely much more on the team aspect of the game, men - the individual.
Though men are absolutely stronger, I think you're wrong about men being more conditioned (at least in the NBA). You don't see the men running as hard to the other end of the court after a basket as you do women. Women seem to have better endurance at the professional level.

Men's basketball is much faster than the women's game. What attracts people to the men's game is the display of athleticism. I would rather see men with 42 inch verticle jump than women with a 27 inch verticle leap. Also the men's game is higher scoring. I don't find the women's game to be exciting at all. There is a good WNBA team here, Detroit Shock, but I have absolutely no desire to go see them. I watch them on TV, but that is about it. It just isn't appealing.

I really like both. Anyone who watched the women's NCAA final between Duke and Maryland knows that it totally rocked!
It is simply easier to be a fan of men's bc they get so much more coverage It does not matter how amazing Lisa Leslie is or Kaite Smith, fact is even big sports fan have hardly heard of them.
And Americans like what is easy.

Men tend to show off their moves, while the women try to score as fast as possible to win. No offense to anyone, but thats mainly why the men are watched more, for dunking and showing off.

Women say they have better fundamentals. They have better all around shooting, but they turn the ball over so much with sloppy play, and not being able to catch passes too well. Women bat at the ball too much with their hands and it's like watching children's soccer, except the women are using their hands, while children are using their feet, but both involves no one ever fully controlling the ball.
