i'm assuming you're talking about how to influence his career? if so, on http://www.gamefaqs.com there is a guide for setting his career.
it's just little things... like to make him want to be a farmer, let him watch you milk the cows by hand, to be a scientist, become good friends with the scientist, etc...

check out www.gamefaqs.com and their is a faq on raising your child and other good faqs that i used with my harvest moon. hope it helps ya out like it did for me.
