If your building in question was built in the 60's in definitely not the Freedom Tower; that building was built in the 20's to handle all of the new immigrants to the country.
You may be referring to the Fontainebleau Hotel. Here is a picture - http://www.miamibeach411.com/Hotels/fontainebleau.html
The Fontainebleau is a classic Art Deco building, built in the late 50's and designed by Morris Lapidus.
The Fontainebleau has also been featured in many movies. Its most famous appearance was in the film "Scarface" in the scene where Tony get's slapped by the girl at the pool.

There are thousands of buildings built in Miami in the 60's. You'll need to either post a photo or give us a much better description. The "Freedom Tower" that everyone is talking about was built in 1925 as the home of the Miami Daily News. When the newspaper moved to a new plant the building lay vacant until the US Government bought (or maybe leased) it in the 60's for use by the Immigration service to process Cuban Refugees. Hence the name. It has now been sold to the developer of a multi-use Highrise & will be incorporated into the new structure.

what do I know about Miami, is that they have the best teams and schools. The beaches are cool and the colleges are awsome. The last high school I came from was Miramar High School. The mascott was the patriots. The colors are red white and blue. The teachers' there are good, too and I miss them a lot.
the cities are fab as well like Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville. But Miami is great and i miss living there.

I am from the 305...holler!
hmm you might be reffering to the freedom tower. That building was where many Cubans came to Miami and became citizens, our mini Ellis Island =)
Or it might me the Biltmore Hotel...it's beautiful. It has an antique Mediterranean design to it and is located in Coral Gables.
