Do you agree that someone who isn't born yet is not alive and has no right to life, and that abortion should be legal and available regardless of the reason or circumstance? I hope you agree with me.

I agree with the Supreme Court that it is a woman's 1st Amendment right to privacy over her body to make that choice.

As far as when a fertilized embryo becomes a person with a soul, I think only God can answer that. It amazes me how ppl call that murder when that fertlized embryo is not an independent life... meaning it is dependent. Yet, we unplug dependent lives everyday from support machines and don't call that murder.

What is the Net Creativity of abortion? In other words, what is the REAL problem which humans are trying to solve that will yield more creative usefulness than consumption of resources? In the case of abortions, only the people directly involved have enough informatin about the situation to decide if their lives will be more useful and creative for the future without this particular child than the child will be able to contribute after being raised in the environment they are cognizant of being possible.
It isn't a matter of living or not. The 'living' part is simply the potential for a particular life. Some children's lives are taken away by the circumstance they are born into anyway, either through defects, drugs, abusers, crime, consumption, or poverty. Some parents actually become more useful when they are given responsibility to care for another human being, so even though raising a child will cost them in resources, it provides them with motivation to be a better person.
There are no 'rights' except those agreed upon by living in a society. The only natural 'right' we have is the right to try and live. All the rest are just invented.

I agree to abortion rights, because I think with more restrictions, it would make it more difficult for those women who need abortions for medical reasons to get an abortion, and that without legalized abortions, we would see an overhwelming number of "back alley" abortions which would be tremendously injurous to women.

Also, banning abortions would make it much harder for those carrying children with known birth defects to choose for the lives of their unborn children. I personally knew a woman who had to make this decision and chose to abort the baby. She lived each year with the guilt of her decision, but ultimately she knew it was right not to bring a baby into this world that she did not have the means to care for and who would not live a full and healthy life.

With that being said, I don't completely agree that an unborn child "is not yet alive and has no right to life." But there are so many unborn children who were not wanted by their parents and grow up in sub-standard foster care or in orphanages, and I don't think this is a great solution, either.

Although in a perfect world every child would be wanted, those circumstances are never going to happen. Nothing other than abstinence is 100 percent effective in preventing pregnancy, and there is absolutely no way to enforce abstinence other than among those who truly wish to have a child. Nor should there be.

So although I think each life is precious, and hold a conflicting view that if a mother is injured during pregnancy causing the loss of the child that it is a greater offense than just the injury or death of the woman, I do believe abortion is a choice that women should be allowed to have.

I certainly don't think that "someone who isn't born yet is not alive and has no right to life", come on, are you serious?

The thing here is, that many women are going to have an abortion anyway, legally or not, so there should be some way to assist them so they don't just die out there in some crank's "operating room" which is probably some dump in some back alley. It's a VERY controversial and touchy issue. I know. It's so sad! After all, it IS the woman's decision. On THAT I DO agree. But, pls, don't say that nonsense that if it isn't born, it's not alive!!!

I'm pro-choice. This country was founded on the beliefs that govern us today and for the government to turn and say you can't have an abortion, is totally hypocritical. I would never have an abortion but I'm pro-choice because what if the mother is a drug dealer, which would cause the baby to be abnormal which could create huge problems later on in the child's life. To have a child grow up, not knowing that it is not wanted, is just catastrophic. What if the mother had been raped? The child could be adopted but what if the respective adpotive parents abused the poor child? There are so many pros and cons, that if the government tries to enforce a law against abortion, suicidal attempts and successions would be huge.

I agree with you. There are certain circumstances that warrant an abortion and a woman shouldn't be denied the right to make the decision to abort should the necessity arise.

No - definitely not. Unless the mother's life is at stake or the baby is going to "for sure" be born with irreversible defects NO. Unless, she was raped, there was "choice" to have unprotected sex. Why should a child be murdered because of the irresponsibility of another? Pay the price - have the child - let someone who can't give birth, that wants a baby raise it, love it, nurture it. When is "it" alive you ask? The child is alive the moment it is conceived. It becomes a living, growing, being. Just like a plant, once it takes root, it becomes alive and it grows. Whether you or others consider it a weed or not is irrelevant.

I am a conservative and I truly feel that abortion is wrong. I would hope that my daughter or somebody close to me would never chose an abortion.

However, I feel it is MORE WRONG for me and my opinion to be forced on a woman who doesn't want her child. As much as I hate abortion, I don't feel I have a right to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body and her child.

I know there are many who would disagree with me. They would say that I am supporting the killing of thousands of unborn persons. Perhaps that is true, but another reality is that my convictions and my religion cannot be forced on somebody else. Many think that the 1st amendment says we should have religion taken from us. For that reason they support abortion because they say its not a religious issue. Here I disagree. The 1st amendment frees us from having religion thrown upon us. And this is what I feel the true abortion issue is.

As much as I hate abortion, in America, women should not be denied abortions in the name of religion. As much as I love my religion, they have the right to turn from religion if that is what they want.

No one has the "right" to kill another innocent human being. Are you aware that babies in the first trimester have beating hearts (3 weeks), recordable brain waves (6 weeks), tiny fingers (6 weeks), and all their organs (8 weeks)? Are you aware that by 9 weeks, an unborn baby can suck her thumb, grasp an object placed in her palm, and feel pain? Did you know that by 11 weeks, an unborn child can get the hiccups, smile, frown, urinate, make a fist, and kick her feet? All of this development occurs in the FIRST trimester. Does this sound like someone who is "not alive?"

No I do NOT support abortion or abortion rights.....the mother and father of the child should be tried for murder if they agree too have an abortion....and the doctor as well too!

Simply if they do not want the child ....Do Not Kill the unborn child ....GIVE IT UP for adoption!

Wich would be the dumb@$$ politicians both republicans and democrats would have too make it a lot cheaper or couples to do so......There are too many people out there that would love too have childeren but can not...Yet you have Some dumb@$$ who thinks they have the right too kill them.....IF you don't want to get pregnant and have a child ...Then DO NOT be f*cking around!

2 bumper stickers come to mind:

"Isn't it rather hypocritical to favor abortion when YOU'VE already been born?"

"Did we abort the baby who would have found the cure for cancer?"

I believe that a life is created at conception...fertalization. And abortion doesn't just kill the baby, but messes up the insides of the woman, too. Often times, the woman may never be able to get pregnant again.

In short, no, I don't support abortion rights.
