The Joy luck Club is such a Fantastic Movie!..My mom made me watch that when I was 18..The stories were sooo powerful.
I loved when the young wife was baking that Peanut Cake for her husband, to beg him not to leave her--and her mother was like:
"You bake this--what you think he say--'Oh, I so sorry! Forgive me'..NO, he only take you for More granted!".
...."This not knowing--Not Knowing What You Are Worth--this can't be!"
I CRY EVERY TIME I SEE THAT! :)

2 scenes actually. I was gripped by the way ming na's father talked to her(about her mother)the night before she left for china.
the second one was when she got off the boat and she finally saw her sisters. especially when they said something in chinese , which i think meant like younger sister or something like that. those were very powerful scenes for me. (fyi, my wife made me watch it, good movie!)

I love the movie! The book is even better.
My favorite scene is when (I don't remember the characters' names anymore) the mom who died is in the kitchen with her daughter and they are talking about the daughter's worth. (She had tried to take the bad crab (lobster). Her mom said she had best quality heart. Then she gave her the jade necklace and told her about how long she had worn it. I cry every single time.

I like every scene in theis movie but the one that comes to mind now is when June { played by Ming Na}, goes back to china to meet her sister who ar twins and they do not know that their mother is dead. so June tells them in Chinese. i cry everything i see this scene. and then they embrace her and say Little sister.
