i have an automatic vehicle and all of a sudden it started to make a "click" sound whenever I step on the brake pedal and another click when I let off of the brake. I could feel and hear that it was coming from under the gear shift boot.... does anyone know if this is serious? Anyone know what could be wrong??? Anyone know how to fix this?

It could most likely be that a shim for the brake pads had shifted, or is in the process of moving on each stop and go you do. Get your brakes checked just in case it could be worse than that. Good luck.

I have an automatic pistol, it makes a click noise too.

Just kidding.

There are steel brake linses that are secured to the underside of the car with clamps.
When you press on the brake pedal, the pressurized brake fluid slightly moves the line where it has bends in it.

You may want to have a mechanic put it up on a lift and check it out.
If you have a brake line that is rubbing, it could fail on you. Then you would have NO BRAKES!

Get it checked out soon.

Replace your brake pads. Sounds like "chatter clips" to me. (They are on brake rotors and used to produce a "clicking" sound when the brake pad wears out to much). If you have ABS, beware of necessary steps to follow. Go to Library and get a Chilton's or Haynes, or Motor repair manual for your car or truck. Hope it's not an import! Good luck.

PS: Always include year, make and model of car when asking questions here.

my experience - it's the brake sensor. It goes off if the brakes need changing or if something is wrong. It might just be a brake hose.
