you're NOT supposed to bathe a hamster!!!!!!! LOL! hamsters habitually clean themselves, hence that it why everyone says they are such clean animals. if you did bathe a hamster, they could get sick or die from fright! so really, there's no reason to bathe the hamster.

Most hamsters don't need baths ever. In fact some will get sick if you do bathe them, because they will get a chill from being wet. A good rule of thumb is only bathe an animal if they a) have a skin condition and frequent bathing is recommended by the vet or b) if they become very dirty. Small animals and cats usually never need to be bathed, they can clean themselves.

The hamster is more likely to get sick if she does bathe them.

it is very easy for a hamster to get a cold, which they can die from in a matter of hours. its really best that she does not give them a bath unless they really need it.

If a hamsters cage is kept clean, which means cleaned out atleast once a week. they should keep themselves clean enough.

If you really really have to give the hamster a bath, i suggest you do it in the day time, when its warmest. and pat then dry as much as you can with a small towel, then put them back in there cage, and put the whole cage somewhere where it will not catch a chill.

I'll tell you when they'll get sick-if she DOES bathe them!!!
Hamsters are very hygienic animals that clean themselves, and baths can actually harm them. Hamsters shouldn't come in much contact with water as it washes off natural oils and can give the hamsters a chill. So the bottom line is-DON'T GIVE HAMSTERS BATHS!!!!!

Hamsters are like cats- they bathe themselves. A hamster can very easily fall ill and die if they are exposed to water. They catch a chill very quickly. They should never be bathed by your daughter.

If they seem overly smelly, clean out the cage more often. You can put chincilla SAND (not DUST) into a small box or bed type container, and they might use it to clean themselves with. It's perfectly safe, as long as it's the sand, not the dust.

No they will smell bad but they will not fall sick. Remember that these animals still do live in natural settings and no one is there to bathe them. so no worries unless the smell gets to be toooooooo much.
