Shelby is generally a girls name, but its origins probably some from a boys name, which a lot of names do. The name could work for both sexes though.

I love the name Shelby . It can be for both but I really like to for a girl I have met a boy named Shelby!! I also like it spelled Shelbey, Shelbie

It's better for a girl. Boys generally find a name that could be a girl's name a heavy burden. For a girl, it's a charming and distinctive name.
