You can buy a coupler in just about any store that sells a large selection of computer cables, but it will be cheaper to just get another cable, especially if you can return the 14 ft one.

You can purchase a connector that will allow you to connect another cable to extend the distance; however, it may slightly degrade the performance of your connection.
Of course, the coupler should be Cat 5e as well. You would be would be looking for something like this:

Then connect another 3ft Cat 5e cable on and you should be ready.

Return the 14' cable and buy a 25' cable - no couplers, no performance degradation, shouldn't cost you more than a few extra dollars.

yes you can extend the cat5 by simply buying a HUB or the method i would use if you dont have money is to just cut the cable up and find another spare cable thats catagory 5 and solder them together creating the extention, <<<< the second parts alittle harder than you think but if your a novice with computers id just buy the hub

Go to your local Staples (If you're in the US - you don't say)
and ask for a "Cat5 Inline Coupler".
It's in the cables display, just to the left of the regular Cat5 cables, close to the top. Item number 640577.
Other stores have them too, of course

yes, radio shack has a cat5e extender. you still need to buy a new peice of cable.
your better off buying a new cable.
check my sources for the link of the adapter
****the adapter from ebay is NOT for cat5*** if you use that one, your preformance will degrade to a cat3

There are extensions you can buy, or if you know how to splice by any chance, you can splice two of them together. But honestly, it's cheaper just to buy a longer cable. ;-)

Yes, I had the same problem. I looked everywhere, and nobody had it, but Home Depot has a conector.
