The gowns, the food, the 5 a.m. blood draws with dull needles and phlebotomists that couldn't hit a vein if it had a bullseye, pompus doctors, uncanny timing of nurses who always catch you in a compromised state of dress, the noise, the pages, the weird transportation guys, being sick.

The smell, and the food isn't the greatest, but after my kids and my own surgeries, being there 14 times you would think I would be used to the atmosphere....but it doesn't seem to change no matter what hospital you go to. Also after having surgery and them telling you to take a shower every day, and feeling like crap........give me a break, every other day is sufficient in my opinion........while there. When you are hurting and have an IV hooked up, it is not the easiest task to do.

They smell
They are really depressing...sickness and death all around.
The walls are always painted really ugly colors.
Those hideous gowns they make people wear with they asses hanging out...they can't even afford the patients some dignity.
No privacy.
Impolite, overworked staff
Bureaucracy.
Crappy food in the cafeteria.
Ever spent the night visiting someone? Sleeping in those uncomfortable chairs will leave you a cripple the next day.
If you have to go to one, it usually either means that you are gravely ill/injured/in need of surgery, or you are visiting a loved one who is. :(

I've only spent 1 night in a hospital, when I had my drink spiked. I hated that they wouldn't let me go home and the drip hurt.

How cold it is. I went to the emergancy room about a year ago and it was so cold. Something told me to bring my own blanket and its a good thing I did because all they gave me was some freakin thin sheet.
