I don't use the site, but I do beleve that it's not myspaces fault that kids are raped from people they meet there. it's there fault they put up there adress and phone number and pictures of themselves in provocotive poses saying "come get some ;P"
Teens and Preeteens only think about how many friends they can have on there.
NOTE THIS IS NOT BASED ON EVERYONE WHO VISITS THE SITE.
Yahoo, however, seems to have more Young adults instead of Teens, so they know what they're talking about.

myspace I don't think is exactly safe. It should be 18 or over. Like most personal sites are. I don't know about yahoo but it could use a little more security as far as age and stuff.

I think that these children should not be on the net without the supervision of their parents. Yahoo and myspace have guidelines and rules, but ultimately they cannot police everyone. It is up to the parents to know what their children are doing on the internet and make sure they are making safe and informed decisions.

Yes I think the sites are safe. Kids need to know better than to give out their personal information (name, phone number, address, etc) and they certainly shouldn't arrange to meet people offline. I think kids don't think that dangerous things can happen to them, like they feel invincible so they don't consider any possible negative consequences.

Nothing on Earth is safe for the young! That's why it is ALWAYS the parents RESPONSIBILITY to care for and direct their young children. Young children generally don't know how to protect themselves!

I've never really understood how it can be unsafe... I mean, don't the kids have to actually have physical contact with people to be hurt? Am I missing something?

If you're careful enough it can be safe. Quit getting your underwear in a twist.
