When you find government employee's who are like this, you need to get their full name and contact your State Representative and turn them in. If enough people turn in the same person, something will be done.

Because it's a bureaucracy with no ends. Government workers are protected by the system which is protected base on their power of monopoly. An unlimited funding of taxes.
If you are a government employee, you can fcuk up and nobody will care. When you call a public agency, all you hear is a voice recording telling you to make a payment. It's like they build a system in which it is so hard for you to resolve a problem, even though the error is on their part, that it is faster to pay rather than hunt them down for them to fix it. At most, all you will hear is: I was not the person that did this, and then they brush you off.
Try being loud in a public agency, they might charge you with terrorism. And why do government worker are fat and stupid? Take a look at DMV, they are mostly Fat, Old, Stupid, and Bitter.
I'm getting my degree in Economics and getting the hell out of the US. It's no longer the country that it was. Thank god for a global economy where if you work hard enough, you will get somewhere and need not pay taxes to fund stupid government workers.
Just my thoughts.
"There are no competent men in government for if there was any, they would have long ago been bought out by the private sector"

Because of the demanding jerks they have to deal with every day. Can you imagine all these lazy people coming into your office every day demanding free stuff from the government?? And then getting ticked off when the worker can't help them? Who would be happy in a thankless job like that where you have to deal with jobless losers all day? And the DMV people ... well, their job is crappy too. But I will tell you that I could not work at the food stamp office or at the welfare office; no way. Sitting there actually WORKING for my money, which isn't much by they way, while all these people come in wanting a handout instead of getting an education and bettering themselves. Yuck.

Simple...because they don't have to be nice. If someone is mean to you at the DMV, its not like you can say "man, I swear that's the last time I'm ever going there!". You have to keep going back regardless of how they treat you. There's no competition...its not like you can just choose to go somewhere else and get the same service. So basically, they can treat you however they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Even if you complained to the "higher-ups" at the DMV, they don't have to do anything about it because, as stated before, you're going to come back regardless of whether they solve the issue or not.

Maybe they know that they have to pay a bunch of taxes just so people can get free food and free everything else. When you work for a living and have to stretch every dime you earn you may begin to begrudge people who get handed everything and do nothing to earn it. It still is not an excuse to be rude to people but the government has definitely divided people not only by class and stature but also by the haves and have nots. The people who have a little get nothing. The people who have nothing get barely anything but the people that have the most are reaping big benefits. As far as the staff go, they are over worked and under paid, their hands are tied to help people that they know need help and are forced to help people that they know are capable of helping them selves.

I studied public administration in college, and found out that the most boringess and most depressing jobs are in the bureaucracy, plus the pay a lot lower than the private sector.
government airport workers and border security are the meanest.

cause they're overworked under paid at least according to a friend of mine who works at a foodstamp office, and they have all these people coming in there most of them with lousy attitudes complaining about one thing or another.
put it this way how would you like 100-300 people coming into your job and complaining to you all of the 8hrs that you're there?
Not a pretty thing to imagine is it?
And if it really bothers you that much put in a complaint or next time tell the person look I know you're having a bad day maybe I am too, but, at least I'm not taking it out on you.

The bad service is intended to keep you from applying for benefits. They figure you will get discouraged and leave. Ever wonder why social services lines are so long, now you know.

I am in the Navy... guess I am mean.... probably because I hate my life and can't wait until the day I am out of the navy. Pay sucks too compared to what I would be getting in the civilian sector for the same job. oh and that other thing, it is called a war. two deployments in two years burned me out.......

Short and simple answer is.........They are over worked and under paid and they have to sit at their jobs and listen to people either ***** all day or listen to their sob stories all day.
That is enough to put anyone in a rotten mood.
