My birthday is coming soon. I'll be 19. I'm just curious to know if anyone else was freaked out by the prospect that they're not really a kid anymore.
As you grow up, you're gradually expected to be more and more of an adult. But I don't feel like an adult.

This is going to keep hitting you, over and over, as you get older. Trying to figure out what it means to be this age, or that age. Do not try to figure it out.
Just take each age as it comes, and roll with the punches.
Nobody knows what an adult is anymore, or what age people should be when they act grown-up. Plenty of folks never grow up.... and I don't mean that in a good way.
If you feel like you're really 12, just keep pretending to be 19 anyway.... and do your best to pretend as well as the next guy is pretending. If you reach 80 and you've been pretending better than most people.... you win!

Most kids get nervous about having to grow up, even though they know it all at about 16 these days. It is not unusual and a job that will help you get through college can make you feel more independent. Having to pay your own bills will make you feel like an adult by building your self esteem. firstly, once you step into 13, you are officially not a kid, but a teenager.
you need not feel like an adult, whether you like it or not, and a 9 year old feeling like an adult does not mean you are one either.
so wake up, step out and see your bright new day ahead. Happy 19th!

No it didn't bother me as I had to work anyway. I was that much closer to being my own boss. In the summers my parents would have a garden, and my father would get me up at 5AM every morning to weed that garden! I got no breakfast, no shower, NOTHING until that garden was done!
And I hated it!
