Disney has made the choice not to release Song of the South. They do not want to insult anyone and feels the movie downplays slavery.

I am a big fan of the movie and feel if the world can live with Gone with the Wind, Song of South shouldn't be a problem. But I guess Disney doesn't like controversy.

I was Thrilled this summer when I bought a copy of it on Ebay. It was great to watch that movie again. Great actors it really is a shame they don't release it.

There is actually a website out there to bring it out. They suggest that people go on the disney website and request the movie. They figure that if people are requesting it, Disney may change their minds.
But Check out ebay for it!!!!!

You can find it on eBay. And your right your grandchildren will enjoy the movie, my daughter loved it. I believe they won't release due to the slavery era.

Likely because the movie had racial undertones. They don't want to risk causing an uproar over rereleasing the Tar Baby stories.

It was considered to racial, and it supposidely condoned slavery, because it didnt make obviously claims to how bad slavery was. Just because you don't say, this is bad, doesn't mean you say its good. It was released, just not in North America. Check out www.snopes.com
