Try resetting the router by unplugging it from power, wait about five minutes, then plug it back in. If that doesn't work, try logging into the router to check the settings, make sure that DHCP is turned on or that you have a static IP set.

If those options don't work, reset the router buy unplugging it, push a paper clip into the reset button on the back if it has one and plug the power back on and hold the reset button for at least another 30 seconds. This will completely reset the router to its defaults. If that doesn't work, you may need to reset the router.

The first thing to suspect is that something is interfering with the signal between the laptop and the router -- probably wiring of some kind, most likely electrical. Changes in humidity can change the house ground and affect the magnetic field around any wire carrying current. Try moving the laptop to see where you get the best signal.

Alternately, it could be a problem with either the router (how old is it? Has there been a lightning strike nearby recently?) or the wireless NIC in your laptop. Can you test the laptop at some other wireless access point? Can you borrow a different router and see if it works better?
