Don't be so down on yourself , everybody has to start someplace , just bench what you can , and start working your way up , and in no time you will be benching more than you thought you could but first off stop with the crappy attitude , and start thinking positive and don't give up so easy .

Regardless of the specific weight you're trying to put up, there are a couple of things that could potentially be keeping you from reaching your goal of 95. 195, or even 295 lbs. 1) The bench presses you are currently doing are being done with incorrect form. You may be able to push more weight by arching your back, not bringing the weight down to your chest, or bouncing the weight off your chest, but these techniques are robbing your muscles of the stress they need to cause proper hypertrophy. This is very common for male weightlifters, who tend to be more concerned with the AMOUNT of weight they are lifting (sound familiar?) that with doing the exercise correctly.

Assuming you have limited experience and are focused on being able to lift a certain amount of weight, you may be overtraining. You can't/shouldn't work the same muscle group every day, or even 2-3 times, in the same week. Muscles have to recover, and strenuous training will not accomplish anything, or even worse set you back, if you don't allow the muscles proper time to recover. Optimal recovery time is dependant on a number of factors, including age, diet, rest, etc.

Your diet and sleep patterns may also be big factors. Your weight training, even if done properly (which is not done, even by most people who train regularly), will only take you about 1/3 of the way. Diet and sleep are every bit as important.

Final piece of advise is to seek counsel from dedicated weight lifters (not from some jocks on your JV football team). People who are dedicated to this practice are usually more than willing to pass on their knowledge and experience to people who show interest and dedication as well. Best of luck!

2 questions first, how old are you? how much do you weigh?
the reason is that you're not ready, you need to slowly rise in weights, if u can bench 90, then keep going until its too easy. right now im benching 195 going on 200 but i havent gotten there yet just like you, cuz u have to keep trying until u feel ur ready

Dude, before my ACL surgery I could bench 315, but after sitting out 2 months, with no lifting, I can only benchpress 135. Don't get discouraged, we all start somewhere. For me, it's restarting.
Keep working at it and in no time you'll get it down.
