My wife and sister-in-law are of the opinion that promiscuous women are almost one and all victims of some sort of childhood/adolecent molestation or rape. This would include strippers, pornstars, and prostitutes. Therefore, support or promotion of the above activities is by proxy support of child molesters. They seem to be of the opinion that there are no, or at least very very few, naturally occuring promiscuous women. I admit this all seems to have some truth to it. I could see how a girl who has been molested or raped cound be conditioned into thinking "thats all she's good for". However, being the skeptic that I am, I refuse to support their opinion 100% until its validity had been proven by more demanding means. Have there been any studies, ala Masters and Johnson, that shed light on this assumption?
My problem with their opinion is that the molestation factor only applies to female promiscuity. They believe women under normal circumstances are not promiscous, however men are.

Their seem to have improperly interpreted the statistics.
It is true that a large number of individuals who have been abused are promiscuous, but it is not true that a large number of promiscious individuals have been abused. The percentages are probably very small. Promiscuity is highly complex and varies between social conditions, nationality, and the like, as well as insecurity and more seirous psychological issues, such as those that might arise through abuse.
Stripper and prostitutes and so forth are somewhat consistent in having varying degrees of low self esteem and identity issues, both very common with abused individuals, but not exclusively so.
Equally as common is a newer phenemenon: The socially liberal trend that seemed to arise from personalities such as seen in Sex and The City appears fun. It is a simple yet pervasive human nature to criticize that which we cannot have (but subconciously want), and association with something you cant have almost always produces negative responses. More likely your wife and sister are being defensive (and just human).

I don't know of any studies, but I was very promiscuous when I was younger and was never molested or otherwise abused as a child. I had low self esteem and felt that sex was a substitute for affection. Also, I know a lot of women who were raised without a father figure who look for a dad in their lovers. A lot of different reasons are out there and I do not think that by watching porn or seeing strippers is supporting child molesters. However, it may lower your wife's self esteem and we all know where that leads!

Your wife and sister-in-law indeed do have a point. Oprah Winfrey--who was raped as a child & later became a promiscius teen--has admitted that child molestation leads to early female sexual activity & promiscuity..So, there is a lot of truth to what they say.
However---this is where your ladies go wrong: They are making the very false claim that ALL promiscious women have been molested or raped--UNTRUE. There are many promiscious women who have a high number of sex partners--and they have Never been molested. Take Paris Hilton for example--she admitted in the lastest issue of "Blender Magazine" that she's has relations with numerious partners. She has even made a "sex tape"--yet she has never been molested or raped.
I think that your wife & sister in law are also linking promiscuity with "social class". They are saying that all promiscius women with these low class careers (sex workers, strippers, etc)--have been molested and are therefore promiscious. However, from persoanl experinece I will say this---I went to a suburban high school in a very wealthy community that was voted one of the top 5 places to love in major magazines. Many of my female high school classmates were from wealthy familes--and they were Extremly Promiscious--and they have never been raped or molested. To them--having casual sex with a new boy every weekend was "normal" behavior...So, please tell your ladies that although many low class women who are stippers and porn stars have been raped--many Ivy League, upper crust wealthy girls are highly promiscious--yet because their parents make lots of money--they arent forced to enter low class jobs like strippers and prostitutes..
The whole point that supporting strippers is supporting child molesters is partially true. If those women hasn't been exploited as young children--they probably would not have chosen those careers where their bodies are exploited daily...When you see woman walking the streets hooking, you are probably looking at a woman who was raped at 5--by her father or uncle.
Still, I think that your wife & sister in law paw perhaps see strippers and prostitues as a form of "competion", and they are thinking of creative ways to dissuade their husbands from being tempted by those women..... I'll say that they shouldnt fear. The only type of man who wants a very loose woman--is a very loose man. And if a man is loose--he's not worth hanging on to in the first place. They should give their men the freedom to choose loose women with STD's and HIV as much as they desire---if that is the case---your wife & sister in law should make room in their lives for real men who are probably waiting for a beautiful virtious woman like they are. Life is way too short.
Peace

I can only speak for myself. I was molested at a young age, and became promiscuous as a teenager. It wasn't because I liked sex, it was because I had a fear of rejection if I said no. I didn't want to be alone. Now I'm old and I see the silliness of the whole thing.

I think that many of these promiscuous or highly sexual women like porn stars and strippers probably just happen to like sex more than is considered "normal". I agree somewhat with your sister-in-law and wife, but there are many other factors that come into play.

That is a load of crap. I know of women who have not been molested or raped and they are promiscuous more so than my gay male friend! I also know of people who have been molested and raped and they are not strippers, pornstars, prostitutes, or promiscuous.

Actually, the exact opposite is true. Girls who are sexually abused as children usually have more trouble opening up and trusting a man. They become paranoid, and very protective of their bodies, and usually as well, very ashamed of themselves. They usually suffered quite a bit of emotional abuse along with the sexual abuse, and oftentimes can't even stand someone touching them. This has been shown through numerous studies, and I have studied it quite a bit myself in fact. I'm sure there are women who do grow up to be promiscuous, but I've never seen any in all my studies of it.

I think that they are desensitized because they were abused so it is normal and easier for them to have sex even if they don't actually enjoy it. It is sad because it seems almost always someone that is molested as a child ends up with some sexual problem or emotional problem. Memories and the shame hurt so much sometimes for those people.

Most (not all) women in this trade haven't had good bonding experiences with thier father...since her masculine side is unfulfilled she seeks it out through other men & this can be one of the ways.
Sometimes these jobs just pay better...there are promiscuous women out there just as well as there are promiscuous men.
