preterm is labor that starts BEFORE the 37th week ANY LABOR after 37 is FULL TERM labor. So at this point she can't go into pre term labor she is already FULL TERM pregnant/. How long she can go Thur labor is different in every women. She could deliver a few hours after her 1st contractions to even a FEW DAYS later. She is in no danger of a pre term delivery she is now coincided full term could go today or into her 42 week most any Modern doctor will induce before week 42 no doctor i know will let you go past 42,

Okay. I am 34 weeks pregnant, with my second child. Braxton Hicks are not SUPPOSED to hurt, but feel very tight. If you go into labor before 37 weeks, it is considered preterm. After 37 weeks, it is okay to have the baby, and it is considered 'full term'. Early labor can last hours, days, or even weeks. Go to the hospital when the contractions are painful (she can't talk or walk through them) and are about 5-10 minutes apart, depending on how far away from the hospital you are, and if this is her first birth or not. (second births go quicker)
Good luck.

You can go through pre term labor for a while. Months.

I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been goign through this for weeks. And depending on everyones pain scale, braxton hicks don't have to be painful. Mine just feel like minor period cramps. I have been having them for weeks and I am dialated to 3. You can stay in this stage for weeks.

The pain she had probably was a braxton hicks contraction.

Just remember there is only a few more weeks to go at the most!

didnt you learn all this when you had her? anyway what kind of preterm labor are we talking about just braxton hicks because those can go on for weeks or are we talking about actually dialation and steady contractions? because then baby is comming in the next 24 hours. if she is having minor contractions everynow and then not really steady and shows no sign of dialation she could be prego for anther 4 wks.

Oh girl it can go for how ever long it takes...preterm is before it's time not carried to term...BUT they will only let her go so long before they induce her if she's not had it by the due date..

37 weeks is considered full-term. I was pre-term twice. I had one at 33 weeks and 36 weeks. If she is contracting regularly then she should go to the hospital. She needs to time the contractions from the time they begin until the time they end and how far apart they are. If she starts to bleed AT ALL GO TO THE HOSPITAL! 38 weeks is not pre-term. She is probably ready to go.
