In layman's terms, it is simply when you partition your populace into segments then they vote on a representative for that area. This representative is suppose to speak for the constituents in their assigned region.

It is quite simple and was designed this way in order for ppl to have normal lives with the representative doing all the research, etc...

One in which the population doesn't make decisions directly. Instead, there are representatives of the people who make the decisions.

Those representatives can be elected, or appointed, or chosen in some other manner. But the basic concept is that each representative votes on behalf of some segment of the population.

Thats where the people elect representatives to vote democratically on individual issues.

basically its a system where the leaders represent certain parts of the population usually elected. like congress there are reps and senators from every state that were elected by the people
