I am not personally a supporter of this proposal (I don't find dunks to be particularly more impressive or entertaining than a nice pass or shot or steal or block), but i was thinking that, because so many people are entertained by dunking and the high-flyers of the men's game, if they would find the women's game more entertaining if the hoop was lowered so that they could dunk as easily as the men. I am interested in what people think about this idea, even for those who do like women's basketball as it is...would you still like it if the hoop were lowered? And for those of you who don't like women's basketball, would you like it if the women could dunk consistently and frequently like the men do? Please elaborate on your answer and don't be disrespectful.

hey that's a really interesting question for once most people do boring ones. well i don't know i think it just not the same when chicks play, because of their build. guys move differently and they are stronger that i think just gives more excitement. granted, im a guy so people prbly call me a male shovenist. its nothing against you, ladies. just the way it is. HOWEVER i did happen to watch a womens where there was a girl who had the same moves as a man, she played like a guy, just the way she dribbled and passed and ran and moved around. so im not saying there aren't girls who cant play well or like a guy, but most of them cant. even if they did dunks.

Of course they should. Then that way, we could see more women from either college or the WNBA make more dunks because I know that Michelle Snow is capable of dunking the ball. She did it three times with Tennessee.

i'm an old-college lisa leslie fan. she's outstanding and her ability is exceptional. and you could watch her in wnba action for the l. a. Sparks (no association with my Yahoo solutions nickname). she dunks like a mofo.

I honestly think that they should raise the basket for men so that they can start playing basketball the way it was originally meant to be played. By shooting the ball rather than everybody being so tall they can just place it in the basket. Where is the sport in that?

I don't think it would be a good idea. I think it would disinterest people even more in the WNBA. The fact that you would have to lower the net (and the standard) in order to make it interesting is an insult to women, and an admittance of inferiority. I think women's basketball will have their time - just like women's soccer did, and now women's golf is heading to. We just have to respect them enough to give them the same opportunity to suceed or fail.
