You used the word penetration and set yourself up for a lot of rude remarks.

In answer to your question, the Confederate troops were from the south so the highest point of 'penetration' of the Yankee troops would be Gettysburg as it is the northern most of the 4 choices.

nicely permit's see: Appomattox is in Virginia, Sumpter in South Carolina, Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, and Antietam alongside the Potamic River in simple terms around the Virginia border into Maryland.
