milligram is 1/1000 of a gram (milli = 1/1000)
kilogram is 1000 times as big as a gram (kilo = 1000)

Using that knowledge, here are all the equivalences in these units:
1 mg = 0.001 g = 0.000001 kg
1000 mg = 1 g = 0.001 kg
1000000 mg = 1000g = 1 kg

It's a simple matter of moving the decimal point the right number of times.
2300 mg = 2.3 g = 0.0023 kg
500 g = 500000 mg
3.004 kg = 3004 g = 3004000 mg
7.3 kg = 7300 g

Ohh.... i think you have some problem in your mathematics.

Put them linearly and you can solve them easily. Example here...

1000 mg = 0.001 kg -------(1)
2300 mg = x kg -------------(2)

Divide (2) / (1)

2300 / 1000 = x / 0.001

Hence, x = (2300 / 1000) x 0.001
