Recently my friend's mother died in a car crash ( around a week ago ) and he is coming back to school tomorrow. I really want to talk to him and just hang out like we use to but I know it wont be the same for awhile. I never been in this situation before and I am afraid to say I will say the wrong things causing him to bring up some unwated memories. I really want to help him and try to get him through this but I really don't know. Has anyone been in a situation like htis?

It is very difficult to face someone who has just lost such an important part of their life. Let him know you will be there for him. Tell him you are sorry and feel with him but don't corner him. Give him space and time.

It will be comforting for him to know you will be there when he is ready to talk.
