Try and make friends with english speaking people we have had chinese students stay in our home and by listening they did quite well.

For starters, talk with australians. THere is a difference between US english and Australian english.

FOR EXAMPLE:
US: Center
AU: Centre

Find a tutor. I didn't even know there was any such thing as Australian-English. I thought people in Australia just spoke English.

No worries mate! Buy a couple cases of King Beer, thow some shrimp on the Bar-B and watch Crocodile Dundee movies and reruns of The Crocodile Hunter til your saying things like "Crikey" and "Mate" in your sleep. Not pretty, but highly effective! ;-)
