How do I collect child support from my ex who just got released from prison? The problem is my ex was in prison for almost 7 years and now my son is 19 yrs. old. I tried when he was in prison and was told I couldnt do anything until he got out. Another problem is I recently moved from TX to FL. Which attorney general do I contact, I do have the letter from 2004 when I tried to get something done.

You have 5 years in most states to get back child support. Go to the one in Florida and they will set you up with what you need. You can't do anything unless he finds a job though.

For get the support.Your better off that your son doesn't have any contact with him.Anyone who ends up in prison has to be a looser.Your son will end up the same way.He probably sees him as some hero instead of a deadbeat and looser.Keep your son in school if possible.Best of luck.

If he's spent 7 years inside, what do you suppose he's going to pay you with? The hidden loot? Forget it.

And at 19, isn't your son a bit old for child support? He's old enough to support himself.

I think your beating a dead horse here. You should have taken the government for all you could get for taking your bread winner from you. You were entitled to allot of benefits from the state while he was in. The state usually cons you into getting a divorce so they don't have to pay you. Guess I'm a little late in telling you this. Give my regards to your ex if you see him again for me as he has a tough road ahead of him for sure.
