Water helps disolve the tablets. If the pills sit on the stomach, you can get ulcers.
If you're on a desert island, you'll need water not aspirin.

usually aprisin works well with food.most pple are allergic to aspirin and they dont know. having it without water can cause a lot of after effects. so dont try it unless you are sure you aint allergic to aspirin
serious side effects can occur and generally tend to be dose related. Therefore, it is advisable to use the lowest effective dose to minimize side effects. The most common side effects of aspirin involve the gastrointestinal system and ringing in the ears. It can cause ulcerations, abdominal burning, pain, cramping, nausea, gastritis, and even serious gastrointestinal bleeding and liver toxicity. Sometimes, stomach ulceration and bleeding can occur without any abdominal pain. Black tarry stools, weakness, and dizziness upon standing may be the only signs of internal bleeding. Should ringing in the ears occur, the daily dose should be reduced. Rash, kidney impairment, vertigo, and lightheadedness can also occur.

Unless the medicine specifically states that it should be taken with food or water, you are ok to take it without anything else. Just don't choke!

I have no idea, but maybe you should ask a pharmacist or doctor about it.
