Unless you want to void your DVR warranty, strip the drive and throw it into the PC, then you're only option is to hook it up to your computer directly over a video cable. To do so, your PC must have a video input on the video card. If it doesn't, you'll need to buy a TV Tuner card or another graphics card that has the inputs you need.

I recommend getting a TV Tuner card, which is usually cheaper than buying another graphics card letting you keep your existing one. The Hauppauge PVR-150 or PVR-250 have been around for a while and are still among the top sellers. The features are great, and the card is compatible with a lot of software. The DVD recording software it comes bundled with has plenty of options to record at different qualities, including MPEG-2 DVD, making it ready for DVD burning. It also fits into an open PCI slot on your motherboard and compliments your video card. If you look in the right places, you should be able to find one for around $125 or less.
