I think it is a viable art yet severally misunderstood. Many believe that magick will provide you relief to something. That it will save you from things you desire to change. They believe that by uttering a few words their lives will be full of joy, happiness, and power. Magick is an art like any other. It takes time, practice, and dedication in order to obtain anything. They believe that somehow equivelant exchange does not apply to magick. Magick is not a philosophers stone. Its a way of life. To live and understand things paranormal.
I am an Occultist. Magick is a part of my way of life. I appreciate and respect it. I know that it has limits, that there is a clear and definable order in which magick should be conducted. Living for the truth I do not limit myself to magick alone. I study the martial arts, science, biology... anything and everything that has within it a sense of truth. Understanding the truth about something is the only way to use it properly. The greatest mistake is using a system you don't know. Like walking into science class and mixing every chemical there into a large vat. It would be nice to witness the users of magick taking a divine interest in their own craft.
Hails to dedication,
Silence

Witchcraft is a lot of different things to different people. To some, it's just a part of their religion and faith. to others it's a way to try and gain some control over their lives, or the lives of others. But anything can be used wrongly. Anything done to cause harm to another, always comes back, regardless of what religion you follow.
If you're truely interested read some books on it, or check out some good web sites with lots of information about the many paths in the Pagan religion.

I think that some forms of 'wichcraft' are simply a misunderstood brach of science. Take love potions for example. Technically you could make a love potion using the right chemicals to release the right hormones. So is that whichcraft or magic? Others, such as calling on the dead, are whichcraft and go against my beliefs. But I do believe in gjosts--just not calling on them.
BTW I am a 'liberal' Catholic.

Witch Craft is my life. I am a Witch. And to all of you that say it is bad, it's not! We worship the Earth and the life around us. We do not call on demons but God's and Goddess. Only source's of good. And if a Witch does anything bad with their magick it comes bac to them 3 fold. We DO NOT worship Satan but life itself. http://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.htm look at this sight it will tell you what Witch Craft, the practice of Wicca really is. Good luck with ur decision and Blessed Be!! )0(

Which version of witchcraft are you asking about?
Wiccan's are alright, considering some other people out there. the path's they take are usually the higher ground morally, and they're so easy to tease.
Salem/Inquisition witchcraft was hysteria, I really want to slap people who say they were descended from the 'Salem witches' and the like.

I think that it is a way of living for Wiccans or Witches. It is a very cool way to live, a very nature loving way. I do not have a problem with witch craft,

Wicca is a valid and helpful faith. It is not what Christians or Hollywood would have you believe.
Our most important rule is our Wiccan Rede, "an it harm none, do as you will"
We honor the Earth and want to heal it of what the world has become with pollution. We believe in a balance between male and female, no one is greater than another. We believe in Karma. We believe that everyone should have the right to find their own spirituality or path. We believe in Magick (spelled with a 'k' to differentiate between stage magic).
We do not worship Satan as he is an advent of the Christian church and they are welcome to him. We do not believe in harming others. And we do not believe in actively recruiting others.

Witchcraft simply is a way of life. Factually its an historic way of life that dates back older than most religions. It is a heritage I'm proud to live every day.
