ask the chevy dealer but I think there are 2 cables to the shifter and if they are not adjusted properly it will cause your problem.

Take a look at the throttle body linkage. There should be 2 ot 3 cables. 1 goes th the gas pedal, 2 goes to the transmission 3 goes to the cruise servo (if you have cruise) If there is only the first cable then the transmission is computer controlled and passing gear is a function of the computers. I hope this helps.
