ask the chevy dealer but I think there are 2 cables to the shifter and if they are not adjusted properly it will cause your problem.

Take a look at the throttle body linkage. There should be 2 ot 3 cables. 1 goes th the gas pedal, 2 goes to the transmission 3 goes to the cruise servo (if you have cruise) If there is only the first cable then the transmission is computer controlled and passing gear is a function of the computers. It is controlled by the PCM, cables are long gone...a thing of the past

it is mounted to the throttle cable housing one is the gas and one goes to trans
