Look in the yellow pages. There are different companies than Orkin or Terminex. All Pest control Have to take the same test and a small company maybe able to give you a better deal. By-the-way,Your infestation didn't come from not taking out the trash. You or someone borough them in to your home. They can come in on all most anything. I've seem the come in on a woman's purse.

Buy Dursban....its sold under the Spectracide label in most hardware stores. This is the same stuff the pest control people use. In some states their political lobby make it difficult to buy. In Texas it is not a problem.

Dilute to a 1/2 percent solution and spray along baseboards neard door entrances, and under the sink, and appliances. Don't use it on food surfaces. The odor will last about a day....but after that, all the roaches you see will be belly up.

Try roach houses, and bombs...Just read the direction carefully about the bombs. You need to turn off the air conditioner, fridge and computer, anything that might cause a spark. Also take all puts out during the bombing and wait till the directions say to come back and air it out. Then keep all food and water secured so they have nothing to keep them alive. Good Luck

Those roach houses are great. In my country, we have a cheap and environmentally friendly method: Leave bundles of Pandan leaves (Screwpine) at problem areas. It is non toxic, and you get the fragrance too. It has properties to repel roaches. We leave in it in our cars too.
Hope this helps.

if you dont have pets or small children, you can make a borax paste with borax and water and put it in something with low sides, like perhaps a babyfood jar lid - place a few around the kitchen and it will help.
In the short term - I would suggest an overnight fogger.

Good Luck.
