If the car is equiped with a key imobilizer there is a very good possibility you are using a non chipped key. If it is a cut key or a spare you made it can be the reason,

Do you have an alrm system with an ignition kill switch? we had some compatibility problems with those. Sensor for the chip on the key might be bad it had a very fine wire that flexed when the key was turned and broke easily.

Starter in Pontiac Grand AM maybe bad or the car has flooded out and needs time to sit before being turned on again. Try to give it a little gas before turn car on again. Good Luck and God Bless!

Check your starter motor. If there's absolutely no click, then sometimes I have seen the trigger wire fall off. Plug it back in and away we go! Starter motor might be stuffed though.

Do the dash lights come on? Do the headlights etc work?

Ignition circuit, starter, solenoid, or carbon on battery terminal... one of those is a problem.

Clean the battery termials and check the cables first - easiest to do. If that does not fix it, see a mechanic.

It could be the starter or a sesor or the ignition. I would get it hooked up to a diagnostics machine and it will tell you exactly what it is.

first see if it is an ac delco battery.if it is remove the positive battery terminal and see if it leaking acid, corroded.if it is clean it with a mix of baking soda and water and replace the battery.

1) check fuses
2) check battery connections, make sure cables are rust-free, etc
3) are other electricals working?
4) check starter

Alternator ? Put a brand new battery in my car & three days later- deader than a doornail.

i know this sounds stupid....but, make sure the damn thing isnt in gear. theres a switch that only lets it start in P or N.
