Remember the ads that Moveon.org run in certain states (one of them being Florida) in ’04 warning the old people that Bush was going to cut their Social Security benefit almost in half if re-elected?
None of he older people I know have had any cuts in their SS checks?
Where did that idea go?

Dear g,
Yes it was 2 years ago and threats of imminent doom have had ample time to come true. The ad was saying that the cuts would affect the elderly already on SS soon after Bush's re-election. It did not address the future structure changes that Bush was proposing for much younger people. The Moveon thugs are still in business and still spreading lies yet fools are still taking them seriously.

To Steve,

You are wrong, Bush did not try to cut old peoples Social Security checks in half. He tried to restructure Social Security for future retirees by allowing them to put 2% of what they were paying into a private account that the governement would never be able to touch. What the moveon add was saying was that Bush was going to cut by 46% the amount that old people were already getting as soon as he got re-elected.

I think Moveon.org does a good job at motivating normal people to move on away from the radical left, Bush probably won thanks to the liberal hijacking of the democratic party.

There was a plan to have different retirement accounts so that people would be paying for their own security. It never went anywhere. You can simulate Bush's plan by putting your money in a lifestyle/lifetime/target mutual fund on an annuity in a Roth IRA.

A lifestyle/lifetime/target mutual fund shifts the new money more towards bonds as you get older. So when you are young it might be 80% stocks and 20% bonds, but when you are near retirement the new money you put into it would shift to like 20% stocks and 80% bonds.

I dont think of Obama will bypass alongside this time with Republicans calls for on the Bush tax cuts. The question might desire to be no count if Congress will amplify the Bush Tax cuts returned. Obama cant do something with the help of himself. He can basically recommend and sign or Veto the law. It might desire to bypass with the aid of Congress. In mild of the actual effect of the Bush tax cuts on our financial equipment, i think of (wish) that congress will do whats precise for the country and carry taxes on the wealthy. study my link. Thems the information approximately Bushs tax cuts.

Social Security pays more out than it takes in. The benefits will be gone if nothing is done to correct this drain. It's statistical fact.

... is this all you have... bashing a quasi-successful organization for things it was talking about 2 years ago?

aren't there more important questions to be asked about groups that matter and things that are going on today?

That was said on the premise he was going to pass the priviate account scam. Fortunately, it failed, though he has "vowed" to keep pushing it. Ya got only a few months with your buddies in the legislature, George.
