I guess I dident know I liked him that much, now I keep thinking about his poor wife, and how she has to break the news to her children, and her sadness, so much lost

I'm with you - thinking about his wife and their children. What a nightmare they must be in. Apparently he pulled the barb out of his chest and all of this is on video - just great. (I'm being facetious.)

This is a freak incident. I know people have been saying live by the sword, die by the sword, and I suppose that's true in a way, but I never saw him abusing anything - just working to educate us in his strange, good natured way. We will miss him.

It sucks, the way it happened. Buy that type of thing, though in different situations happens all the time. I know of way too many stories, like it. A few years during the winter, was driving and got hit by a simi-truck. She left behind a husband a 7 year old son and 2 year old daughter, but there are many, many stories just like this one.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

i'm thinking about the man-nobody deserves to die this way-he played with fire and paid the price-spare a thought for his folks.
