A government is obliged to secure the interests of its own population first and foremost.

Other considerations, while commendable, are incidental.

If only through controlling hostile territories that domestic security is ensured, then the government is OBLIGATED to make it happen.

Think World War II, not just Iraq.

However, in a democracy, not everyone feels the same way about these national priorities.

Usually, some kind of compromise is reached and the foreign killing is mitigated, but not eliminated.

I am not saying this is totally moral or just, but it is the way it is and utterly pragmatic.

Of course you must realize that the Iraqi people elected this government so it was chosen and set up by them. But beyond that, yes we have a right. We conquered them so that gives us the right. It would be stupid to go in, destroy their government, and then leave. That's what happened after WW1 and it led to the rise of Hitler. Infrastructure needs to be rebuilt and a new government and army put in place or anarchy will ensue.

Kind of ambivalent about that, seeing as how they cannot even set up a government in the U. S. that is truly impartial and favors everyone, not just the wealthy or influential.
